THE TOY PARTY & SILENT AUCTION: RECORD NUMBER OF GUESTS EXPECTED TO ATTEND 6th ANNUAL EVENT PRESENTED BY DELTA AIR LINES & FOR THE KID IN ALL OF US
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7 AT AMERICASMART 3 - ATLANTA APPAREL MART
Atlanta’s Gay and Gay-Friendly Community to Collect Toys and Gift Cards for Georgia’s Children in Need

ATLANTA – November 26, 2008 – A record number of guests are expected to attend the 6th annual The Toy Party & Silent Auction to benefit Georgia’s underprivileged children on Sunday, December 7, 5:30 – 9 p.m. at AmericasMart 3 - Atlanta Apparel Mart – Building 3, 250 Spring Street. “The more the merrier,” said Frank Bragg, President of For the Kid in All of Us, adding that “more guests means more toys and more gift cards for Georgia’s children who may otherwise be forgotten this holiday season.”

The cost for admission to The Toy Party & Silent Auction is an unwrapped new toy or gift card valued at $15 or more which will be donated to the following North Georgia organizations that serve underprivileged youth: Hillside; Tobie Grant Manor; Sheltering Arms for Kids; CHRIS Kids; AID Atlanta’s Women’s and Pediatric Programs; YouthPride; Safe Path Children’s Advocacy Center; Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities (AADD); Jerusalem House; Easter Seals of North Georgia; Rainbow House; Cobb Christmas; Cross Roads Foundation / Forgotten Teens Holiday Program; Appalachian Children’s Emergency Shelter (ACES); and Community Welcome Houses.

A Silent Auction has been added to The Toy Party this year providing guests with an opportunity to bid on nearly 200 donated items with a retail value of nearly $80,000. Items include roundtrip airline tickets on Delta Air Lines as well as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines; mountain cabin and beach home vacations; cooking classes; and local area business and restaurant gift certificates. A special item of interest includes an unopened limited edition mystery gift from Lucasfilm, Ltd. Funds raised through the silent auction will benefit the above mentioned Georgia organizations.

What began in 2003 when a group of friends founded For the Kid in All of Us, the all volunteer non-profit organization that produces The Toy Party & Silent Auction, has grown into one of the most fun and highly anticipated events of Atlanta’s holiday season. Last year more than 4,500 people attended the event and For the Kid in All of Us collected and donated over 5,000 toys and gift cards. In addition, cash donations totaling more than $110,000 were given to partner non-profit organizations at the end of 2007.

“The Toy Party & Silent Auction will be vital for the local non-profit organizations we support,” said Bragg. “We are very confident that our guests will reach even deeper in their pockets this year to help us brighten the lives of children in our community who are less fortunate.”

The 2008 Toy Party & Silent Auction, presented by Delta & For the Kid in All of Us, will include complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests are encouraged to wear festive holiday attire.

Additional sponsors include: Smirnoff & Diageo; Metrotainment Cafes; Bill Lowe Gallery; Georgia Beverage Association; David Atlanta & Southern Voice; Blake’s on the Park; Cook’s Warehouse & Sherlock’s; The Home Depot; Saks Fifth Avenue; Gloriosa Design; Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Community Foundation; Corporate Environments; Labrys Atlanta; Moattar, LTD; Peroni; Solo Cup Company; and Urban Body Studios.

About For the Kid in All of Us:
For the Kid in All of Us, www.ForTheKid.org, was founded in 2003 by a group of friends seeking to make a difference in their local community. Recognizing the staggering number of underprivileged children in Atlanta and in Georgia, the group sought not only to raise awareness, but also to lessen the struggles of families and children during the winter holiday season. What resulted from their vision and efforts was The Toy Party, an annual event where gays, lesbians, and the gay-friendly community in Atlanta could come together to support a cause that affects children across Georgia.

In 2006, For the Kid in All of Us expanded its scope and added a second annual event, Backpack in the Park, a back-to-school benefit, to collect backpacks and school supplies.

Since 2003, For the Kid in All of Us has distributed more than 17,000 toys and gift cards through The Toy Party, 1,200 backpacks filled with school supplies and gift cards through Backpack in the Park, and raised nearly $380,000 to donate to numerous agencies and organizations serving Georgia’s less fortunate.
