Our all-volunteer, grassroots group started small – and grew quickly.
In 2003, a circle of friends noticed a troubling trend: the increasing number of families in greater Atlanta struggling to make ends meet. Led by current 6th District Atlanta City Councilman Alex Wan, the group set out to raise awareness of the problem and make a meaningful difference in their community.
Their efforts led to The Toy Party, a toy drive aimed at bringing together a diverse mix of supporters to brighten the lives of Georgia families. While the first event was held in a private home, that intimate gathering quickly blossomed into one of the city’s must-attend holiday happenings. The host committee soon evolved into a not-for-profit organization. For the Kid in All of Us was born.
Bringing smiles to Christmas mornings is a wonderful cause, but FTK was determined to do even more. In 2006, the nonprofit launched Backpack in the Park, a back-to-school benefit that collects school supplies for needy students. Our calendar of philanthropy expanded again in 2013 with Kids to Camp, a campaign to send children to summer enrichment camps of their choice.
For the Kid in All of Us is a 100-percent volunteer organization, incorporated in the State of Georgia, recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit, public charity under Section 501(c)(3).
